THE HIRSCHSPRUNG COLLECTION
Nestling in the Østre Anlæg park you will find one of Copenhagen’s most intimate museums, boasting an impressive collection of classic Danish art.
An Impressive Collection
The Hirschsprung Collection welcomes you to a unique experience centred around paintings by the most important Danish artists of the 19th century.
At this atmospheric museum, beautifully located in the Østre Anlæg park, you can set out on an enriching journey back to the Golden Age of Danish art, to the Symbolism movement and the Skagen painters and view masterpieces by artists such as C.W. Eckersberg, Vilhelm Hammershøi and Anna Ancher and new acquisitions by Bertha Wegmann.
As soon as you step into the exquisite interiors, furnished with objects from the artists’ own homes, you feel the intimate, homely atmosphere that is such a distinctive trait of this museum.
Guests of all ages can enjoy the Hirschsprung Collection, so do bring your children along and let them explore the art with fun activity sheets.

Exhibitions at The Hirschsprung Collection
The Hirschsprung Collection also presents regularly changing special exhibitions. In these, new light is shed on the museum’s history and collection as particular attention is focused on a specific artist, period or theme from 19th-century Danish art.
The Corner Displays are small, intimate exhibitions set up in a corner of the museum, offering new perspectives on the art presented. Here, well-known works from the collection are looked upon from new angles, or hidden gems from the museum’s vaults reveal their secrets.
